Kano Is Stable As NNPP, APC Shelve Proposed Protests

Normalcy returned to Kano on Saturday after planned protests by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) did not hold.

Kano residents were seen moving freely and transacting their businesses without fears.

None of the parties came out for procession as planned. The police and other sister security agencies saved the day, it was learnt.

A  joint security operatives, including Army, Police, Civil Defence, vigilante and other security personnel had to man major locations in the state capital to ensure no riot broke out.

The Nation learnt that traders who went out for  market activities, as early as 6 am, were turned back by fierce looking security operatives, a situation that forced them to leave.

But later in the day most markets, like Abubakar Rimi, Yankura, Naibawa, Yankaba and others  opened for smooth business activities.
