Title: Believing is Seeing

For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply you. And so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise. Hebrews 6:13-15

Genesis tells us a story about Abraham and how God made him a special promise. God said that through Abraham’s family, all the people on earth would be blessed. Abraham believed this promise, even though he didn’t see it happen right away. He had to wait for a very long time before his son Isaac was born. Abraham believed in God’s promise because he trusted that God always tells the truth. He knew that God is faithful and keeps His word. Even though Abraham didn’t see any results for 25 years, he held onto his faith in God’s character.
Sometimes, we think that we need to see something with our own eyes to believe it. But that’s not always true. Faith is about trusting in something even when we can’t see it. We can believe in God’s promises because we know that He is always true to His word. One of the biggest lies in the world is that we have to see something to believe it. But faith is not about what we can see, it’s about what we believe in our hearts. We can believe in the power of prayer because Jesus tells us that it is important. We can trust in Him and His words.
Jesus says that we should either pray or feel weak, one or the other. I believe Him because He is special and different from anyone else in history. So, I pray and it actually works! The proof of prayer doesn’t come from my own experiences, but it’s just a way to show what I already believed. I believe because of who Jesus is. This is the secret of faith – it’s all about trusting Jesus. We can either trust Him and believe what He says, or we can reject Him and think He’s just pretending to be someone important. Faith starts with trusting Jesus, and everything else follows from there.
So, let’s remember that faith is not about what we see, but about what we believe. Just like Abraham, let’s hold onto God’s promises and trust in His character. He is always faithful, and He will never let us down.

Thought for reflection
How can we make sure our prayers are based on faith in God’s character, rather than just hoping for what we want? How can we learn to trust God’s wisdom, even when our prayers aren’t answered the way we want them to be? How can we grow in our faith through prayer?

Prayer
Dear Jesus, you often told your disciples that they had little faith. I know that sometimes I struggle with believing in you too. But I ask that you give me the strength and courage to trust in you and to act on my beliefs. Help me to be brave and take steps towards what I know is right, even when it may be scary or difficult. Thank you for always being there for me and for guiding me on my journey. Amen.
