Title: Keep on Believing
All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. . . . Hebrews 11:13
In the story of Abraham, we see a man who had incredible faith in God. He believed in God’s promises, even though he couldn’t see them right away. Abraham’s faith was not just a one-time thing, but something he lived out every day.
Abraham had many exciting adventures in his life, but everything he did was because of his faith in God. Sometimes, his faith wavered, but it never completely disappeared. Against all odds, Abraham continued to trust in God’s promises. He was willing to stake his future on God’s faithfulness God gave him the gift of faith, and Abraham believed.
Just like the Chinese bamboo plant, which barely grows during its first five years. For a long time, nothing seems to be happening. Then, during the fifth year, the plant can grow more than 50 feet. God’s work in our lives may take a long time to develop our faith may take time to grow. We may not see any visible growth for a long time. It may seem like nothing is happening, but if we are patient and keep believing, amazing things can happen. Our faith can grow and flourish if we trust in God’s timing. And with God’s leading, we can do that.
Thought for Reflection
Take a moment to think about a promise that God has made to you. Even if you can’t see it happening right now, choose to believe in God’s faithfulness and trust that He will fulfill His promises in His perfect timing.
Song
When you feel weakest, dangers surround,
Subtle temptations, troubles abound,
Nothing seems hopeful, nothing seems glad,
All is despairing, everything sad:
Refrain :
Keep on believing, Jesus is near;
Keep on believing, there’s nothing to fear;
Keep on believing, this is the way;
Faith in the night as well as the day.
Prayer
Dear God, thank you for the example of Abraham and his unwavering faith in You. Help us to trust in Your promises, even when we can’t see them right away. Father, as you work out your good plan in our lives, help us to exercise patient, unwavering confidence in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
