Title: Be careful of sugar coated lips
For the lips of a strange woman drops as an honey comb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: but her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as two-edged Proverbs. 5:2-4.
Have you ever heard the saying, “Don’t talk to strangers”? Well, in the Bible, there is a warning about a “strange woman.” This woman may seem nice and sweet, but her words can be like a trap. Her words may sound smooth like oil, but her end is bitter like wormwood. The text also means that sometimes people who seem nice on the outside can actually be bad for us.
In today’s world, sin is all around us, especially with the technology we have. It’s important for parents to teach their children about God and how to make good choices.
Just like how we need to be careful of strangers in real life, we also need to be careful of the things we watch and listen to. Some TV shows, movies, and songs may seem fun and harmless, but they can lead us down a dangerous path. We need to be wise and listen to our parents when they tell us what is good and what is bad. We are warned in Matthew 24:12 that because there will be so much evil in the world, many people’s love for God will grow cold.
God wants us to follow Him and stay away from things that can harm us. We need to remember to always choose what is right and good, even if it may not seem as fun at first. We have been given signs to help us avoid disaster, but it’s our responsibility to listen and obey God’s instructions. We should be careful with the technology we use and stay away from things that can bring destruction to our lives. Let’s make good choices and stay close to God.
Life Application: We need to be careful of the things we watch and listen to. Some things may seem sweet and fun, but they can lead us down a dangerous path. We need to listen to our parents and follow God’s instructions to stay safe.
Song
When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Prayer
Dear God, please help us to be wise and discerning when it comes to the things we watch and listen to. Help us to listen to our parents and follow Your instructions to stay safe. Give us the strength to choose what is right and good, even if it may not seem as fun at first. Thank You for always looking out for us and guiding us on the right path. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
