Title: Growing Wiser Every Day

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.” Proverbs 9:9

Imagine you have a treasure map leading to the most exciting adventure. The instructions on the map are like the wisdom given to a wise person. As you follow these instructions, you become wiser, just like the wise man in the verse. Wise people, like the disciples who followed Jesus, are humble and ready to learn. They know they don’t have all the answers, so they patiently listen and learn from others. Just like you learn from your teachers and parents, the wise grow in wisdom by being open to instruction.

Now, think of a friend who always makes fair choices and does what is right. That friend is like the just person in the verse. When you teach them something new, they grow in learning, just as the verse says. Pursuing wisdom is like going on an exciting adventure. It’s gained through knowledge, understanding, and a willingness to listen and learn. In Proverbs 10:8, it says, “The wise in heart will receive commandments,” meaning they are eager to learn from God and others.

God wants us to be like the wise and just people described in Proverbs. Here’s how we can do that:

1.Listen and Learn: Just like following the treasure map, listen carefully to instructions from wise people around you – parents, teachers, and older friends. The more you listen and learn, the wiser you become.

  1. Do What’s Right: Be like the just person in the verse by making fair and right choices. When you do what is right, you are on a journey of increasing in learning and understanding.

3.Share What You Know: If you learn something new, share it with others. When you teach someone else, you not only help them grow, but you also increase in wisdom yourself. Try new things that help you grow, like sharing stories about Jesus outside your usual group.

4.Be kind to others. Cultivate kindness, making it a part of who you are. Small acts of kindness build a big, loving heart.

So, dear friends, let’s be like the wise and just people in Proverbs. As we listen, learn, and teach, we’ll discover that our lives are filled with exciting adventures, just like following a treasure map. Think of any of your favorite characters in the Bible, such as Job, Timothy, and John, who can be your mentor to guide you on this journey of growing wiser. Note that our ultimate and first mentor must be our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. May God guide us on this wonderful journey of growing in wisdom and learning.

Life Application/Thought for Reflection
Consider keeping a “Wisdom Journal.” Each day, write down one thing you learned or a wise decision you made. Reflect on how these small steps are helping you grow in wisdom, just as the verse encourages. Share your reflections with a friend or family member to inspire each other on this journey.

Song
Lead me, Lord, lead me in Thy righteousness;
Make Thy way plain before my face.
For it is Thou, Lord, Thou, Lord, only,
That makest me dwell in safety.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, We come before you with hearts full of gratitude for the wisdom and guidance you provide. Thank you for the opportunity to grow wiser every day. Help us, Lord, to be like the wise and just individuals described in your Word. As we embark on the journey of life, Help us be humble learners, always ready to listen and follow your guidance. May we listen attentively to your instructions and apply them in our daily choices. Grant us the discernment to make just decisions and to always do what is right in your eyes. Lord, we ask for the strength to share our knowledge with others, that we may contribute to the growth and understanding of those around us. Let our lives be a reflection of your wisdom and love. We pray for the wisdom to navigate the challenges ahead and to glorify you in all that we do. . In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
