Title: Do not be proud

When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. Proverbs 11:2

Can you imagine living in the fields with animals and eating grass like them? Terrible, right? A king in the Bible spent seven years living with animals and behaving just like them. King Nebuchadnezzar was so pleased with himself about how beautiful his kingdom Babylon had become. His heart was filled with pride that he built such a beautiful city.

One day, he had a dream and told Daniel about the dream. In the dream, there was a very large tree in the middle of a plain. It had plenty fruits and beautiful leaves and animals sheltered under it. Suddenly, a loud voice came from heaven saying: ‘Cut down the tree. Trim off the branches, but leave the stump in the field and put a brass and iron band around it. Let him be drenched with dew. Let him live with the animals. Let his mind be like an animal until seven times pass by. I have made this decision so that the living may know that God is the ruler of all the kingdoms. And He gives them to whom He wants to.’

When Daniel heard the dream he was disturbed but he had to deliver the message to the king even if it was not pleasant. Daniel told the King that he, Neduchadnezzar was the tree. And if he refuses to repent from his prideful ways, he would become insane and live with the animals in the fields for seven years.
Daniel warned Nebuchadnezzar that God was not happy with his life of sin and pride.
Nebuchadnezzar refused to listen, and a year later God humbled him. He began to live with and like animals. He crawled, his hair grew bushy, his nails grew like claws, he ate the grass of the field.
After seven years, he learnt his lesson and God restored him.

Thought for Reflection:
God wants us to be humble and not proud. Pride brings shame but humility brings wisdom. Do you want to be brought to shame, Or do you want to be wise? Choose humility today and throw away pride from your life.

Song
Not I, but Christ, be honored, loved, exalted;
Not I, but Christ, be seen, be known, be heard;
Not I, but Christ, in every look and action,
Not I, but Christ, in every thought and word.

Prayer
Dear God, please help me to be humble. Take away every form of pride in my life and fill me with your Holy Spirit, in Jesus name. Amen.
