Title: God’s Warning and Love
While you were doing all these things, declares the Lord, I spoke to you again and again, but you did not listen; I called you, but you did not answer.” (Jeremiah 7:13)
Have you ever had someone try to talk to you, but you were too busy playing or doing something else to listen? Or have you ever done something you knew was wrong, but you did it anyway? Well, did you know that sometimes we can do the same thing with God? Sometimes, we make choices that hurt us and others. In the Bible, God talks about what happens when we make those choices.
In our Bible text today, we see God warning us about the consequences of drifting away from Him. It’s like when we plant bad seeds, we’ll get bad fruit. Even if we say sorry, the scars of our mistakes might stay. God warns us because He loves us and doesn’t want us to get hurt.
God loves us so much that He wants to talk to us and spend time with us. But just like when we’re busy playing with toys or watching TV, we might not hear Him when He speaks to our hearts
God’s call to us is like a loving parent trying to get our attention. He reminds us of His love and how much He cares for us. He wants us to come back to Him, just like the father in the story of the prodigal son waited for his son to come back home.
God is patient with us. He keeps calling us back, hoping we’ll listen and return to Him. Sometimes, He uses tough times to get our attention. It’s like when we ignore a small problem until it becomes a big one.
When we don’t listen to God’s gentle reminders, He might allow something difficult to happen to wake us up. It might seem tough, but it’s because He loves us so much. This is God’s way of shouting to get our attention, like a big wake-up call.
So, when we feel like we’re drifting away from God, let’s listen to His voice calling us back. God’s voice can be a gentle whisper inside us, reminding us to be kind, to help others, or to spend time with Him. But sometimes, we’re so busy with other things that we don’t hear Him. Let’s pray and talk to Him, asking for His help. And remember, even if we make mistakes, God still loves us and wants us to come back to Him.
So, let’s remember to listen to God’s loving voice and follow His guidance every day!
Thought for Reflection:
Think about a time when you felt like God was trying to talk to you. What were you doing? How did it make you feel? Think also about a time when you felt like you were drifting away from God. How did He get your attention? How did you feel when you realized He was calling you back?
Life Application:
Quiet Time with God:
- Find a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted.
- Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
- Ask God to speak to your heart and help you hear His voice.
- Listen quietly for a few minutes. You might hear God’s voice in your thoughts, in a Bible verse you remember, or in a feeling of peace.
- Afterward, thank God for speaking to you and ask Him to help you listen to Him more. Song
Whisper a prayer in the morning
Whisper a prayer at noon
Whisper a prayer in the evening
To keep your heart in tune
God answers prayer in the morning
God answers prayer at noon
God answers prayer in the evening
So keep your heart in tune
Jesus may come in the morning
Jesus may come at noon
Jesus may come in the evening
So keep your heart in tune
Prayer :
Dear God, thank You for loving us so much that You want to talk to us and also warn us when we’re going the wrong way. Help us to quiet our hearts and listen when You speak. We want to hear Your voice and follow Your loving guidance. When we’re busy or distracted or drift away, call us back to You and remind us to take time to listen to You. We know that even when things seem tough, it’s because You love us and want the best for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
