Title: In His Hands

Then Jeremiah said to all the officials and all the people: The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and this city all the things you have heard. Now reform your ways and your actions and obey the Lord Your God. Then the Lord will relent and not bring the disaster he has pronounced against you. As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whatever you think is good and right. Be assured, however, that if you put me to death, you will bring the guilt of innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and on those who live in it, for in truth the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing. Jeremiah 26:12-15.

Jeremiah was a special messenger chosen by God to speak to the people of a city called Jerusalem. He had an important message to share with them. He told them that they needed to change their ways and start obeying God. He wanted them to do good things and be kind to others.

But guess what? Some people didn’t like what Jeremiah had to say. They didn’t want to change, so they got really mad at him. They’re saying he did something really wrong, like treason, which means going against the king or the country. They even wanted to hurt him! Some people didn’t like what he said because it was hard to hear. They thought God would always protect their city and their special temple, no matter what. But Jeremiah knew better.

Jeremiah wasn’t scared. He knew that God was with him, so he bravely stood his ground.
Jeremiah told the people, “If you do what is right and obey God, He will forgive you and not bring bad things upon you. But if you harm me, you will be doing something very wrong.”Even when things got tough, Jeremiah didn’t change his story. He didn’t try to defend himself or say sorry for telling the truth. Instead, he trusted God to handle the situation.

Jeremiah’s story teaches us that sometimes, even when we’re treated unfairly, it’s okay to let God take care of things. We don’t have to fight our battles alone. Just like Jeremiah, we can trust God to see us through, no matter what happens.

Jeremiah’s message is still important for us today. Sometimes, we might hear things that are hard to accept or change. But just like Jeremiah, we should be brave and do what’s right, even if it’s not popular. And we can always trust that God is with us every step of the way.

So, let’s always have the courage to stand up for what’s right, even when it’s hard. God is with us every step of the way!

Thought for Reflection:
Think about a time when you had to stand up for what is right, even when it was difficult or when you faced a difficult situation where you felt like you were being treated unfairly. How did you feel or respond? What helped you stay strong? Did you trust God to help you through it? Just like Jeremiah, we can rely on God’s strength and wisdom when we face tough times. God is always with us, giving us the courage to do what is good and true.

Life Application:
Today, if you encounter a situation where you feel unjustly accused or mistreated, take a moment to pause and pray. Ask God for the courage to trust Him and for wisdom to know how to respond in a way that honors Him. Remember, God is always with you, and He will never leave you alone in your struggles.

Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for the example of Jeremiah, who bravely spoke your truth even when it was hard and trusted you even when he faced unjust accusations. Help us to be courageous like him, standing up for what is right and good in our own lives. Help us also to have the same courage and faith to trust you in difficult times. Give us the wisdom to know how to respond in a way that honors you. Give us the strength to follow your ways and make a positive difference in the world around us.Thank you for always being with us and for fighting our battles for us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
