Imo Born Oil Trader and Real Estate Businessman Decries Imo Varsity Junction Accident Deaths, Says It’s Avoidable.

An Imo State Born Oil Trader and Real Estate Businessman (House Flipping Business), Darlinghton Ogbonna Njoku (D O Njoku), has condoled with the families who lost their loved ones in the last Saturday motor accidents that caused over seven deaths, leaving many others with various degrees of injuries at Imo State University (IMSU) Junction by Works layout, Owerri, Imo State.

D O Njoku, who spoke to NewsTrack Nigeria United States based reporter expressed his heartfelt condolences to the affected families, insisting that the unfortunate incident could be avoidable.

He wondered why successive governments in the States have witnessed the same kind of carnage at the same spot but could not take steps to solve the problem once and for all.

He described Imo State University Junction as a strategic spot that should be protected and guided at all cost, saying that it is in a school area where reckless driving must not be tolerated, especially heavy trucks.

In addition, “We have had past governments witness the same incidents. Each time it happens, we cry and shout and the affected families go home to lick their wounds. Some families have even lost bread winners, future leaders and hopes have been dashed from such avoidable painful incidents. From Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s glass house, those driving down the hill should be guided to do so at a very slow speed because it is a school area.

“While Flyover may be reasonable but it is a long term project, let’s control the speed of the vehicles, especially the Lorries and Trailers”, he stated.

Meanwhile, Njoku advocates for general public safety measures in the state as a proactive step towards reducing such incidents that only inflict eternal pains on both families and the State.
