Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, who threw Imo State into a killing field by mismanaging and fuelling innocent killings using his dreaded vigilante on Thursday claimed that nobody can accuse him of corruption as a public holder.

Speaking during the Michael Okpara leadership lecture and award 2024 at the Musa Yar’ Adua Centre in Abuja, the governor advised public office holders to live within their legitimate means and desist from engaging in corrupt practices.

According to him, the inordinate quest for wealth, and lack of discipline, among others are responsible for the unbridled corruption in Nigeria’s system.

While delivering his lecture titled, ‘Service Above Others; Lessons from the Leadership Philosophy of Michael Okpara,’ Governor Uzodinma advocated the need for political leaders to emulate the legacy of the late Premier of Eastern Nigeria to achieve a more prosperous country.

Further speaking, he revealed that the Egbema power plant which is currently ongoing rehabilitation will be completed and commissioned in the first quarter of 2025.

He described the project as pivotal in supplying 24-hour electricity in all areas of the state.

Other guests include the Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Out; Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Patricia Obila; former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, past and serving lawmakers amongst others.

It will be recalled that Uzodimma has run the state for over five years, appropriating local government funds without any statement how the funds were utilized.

At the inception of office, he had promised to conduct local government elections to allow elected officials administer the local councils. He deceived Imo people by calling on those interested to buy forms for local government council elections. Uzodimma bungled the whole process, throwing most politicians into crisis, having spent so much in campaigns.

With the recent Supreme Court ruling, it is believed from.variois quarters that he is busy hand-picking his cronies for the election so as to still have access to the coffers of the local government across the state.
