How German Agency In Collaboration With NOGALSS Began Mass Literacy Programme In Imo
A German Development Agency, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (German for German Agency for International Cooperation) (GIZ) in collaboration with Non Governmental Association for Literacy Support Services has begun its literacy programme in Imo State.
Recently, the team of the advocates representing GIZ and NOGALSS led by Mrs Ihuoma Onwuchekwa paid a strategic and partnership visit to the Director, State Agency for Mass Literacy (SAME), Mrs Anyanwu Petrolina and Director and South-East Coordinator, National Mass Education Commission (NMEC), Mrs Anyanwu Celestina, intimating the Agencies of the goals and objectives of the project.
The group explained that their visit was to introduce the upcoming GIZ project in Imo State and to seek their collaboration, support, and partnership to ensure a successful project implementation.
Speaking, the GIZ team lead, Mrs. Ihuoma Onwuchekwa briefed the Directors on the objectives of the GIZ project and the purpose of the visit. She emphasized the importance of involving key state education stakeholders in the planning and implementation process to enhance the impact and reach of the project.
In their respective reactions, Director of SAME, Mrs. Anyanwu Petolina, and the Zonal Coordinator ( South East)of NMEC, Mrs. Anyanwu Celestina, expressed gratitude for the visit.
They also acknowledged that it was the right step to approach their agencies first and appreciated the team for valuing their role in the project.
In the area of publicity and mass mobilisation, both Directors are in agreement to assist in reaching out to the target audience for the project. They emphasized the importance of effective publicity in engaging communities, especially in rural areas. They further promised to using their communication channels and networks to ensure the project is well-publicized and reaches the intended beneficiaries.
Another area of key support promised by the duo was help to secure learning centers in designated local government areas within the State.
Meanwhile, the Directors expressed their openness to maintaining continuous communication with the team, reaffirming to their unflinching support through the lifecycle of the project.
The Imo State GIZ project team expressed gratitude for the warm reception and valuable inputs provided by the Directors.
The team also expressed their resolve to continue to engage with SAME and NMEC to foster stronger partnership, ensuring the smooth rollout of the project across Imo State.
Among some of the Project team are Mr Ifeanyi Ibe, Communication and Advocacy Officer, Mr. Nwachi, Finance Officer, and Mr. Emeka Ani, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer.
