Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, MFR, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the esteemed Nigerian business magnate, economist, and philanthropist, Dr. Sir Pascal Gabriel Dozie, who died at the age of 85.

In a heartfelt condolence message personally signed, Prince Madumere described the demise of Dr. Dozie as a monumental loss — not only to the people of Egbu in Owerri North LGA, Imo State, but also to the entire Nigerian nation and the global business community.

“Dr. Pascal Dozie was a man of extraordinary wisdom, humility, and visionary foresight,” Madumere noted.

Dr. Pascal Gabriel Dozie, CON, born in 1939 in Egbu, Owerri North LGA of Imo State, was a towering figure in Nigeria’s corporate history.

He was the founder of the now-defunct Diamond Bank—later merged into Access Bank—once regarded as one of Nigeria’s most respected financial institutions.

He also served as the pioneer Chairman of MTN Nigeria, playing a transformative role in revolutionizing the country’s telecommunications landscape.

A Harvard-trained economist and renowned investor, Dr. Dozie held numerous top-tier positions across sectors and was celebrated for his ethical leadership, strategic intellect, and steadfast commitment to Nigeria’s economic development.

His philanthropic initiatives empowered countless youths, promoted education, and championed sustainable enterprise nationwide.
