Covid – 19 Is Real, I Nearly Lost My Life To The Dreaded Virus– Agodi

– Advises Nigerians against car air conditioner

While most Nigerians have continued to doubt the reality of Covid -19 pandemic, Hon. Agod Okoro, an educationist, businessman and politician has called on such persons to have a rethink, confirming that the dreaded virus is real.

Narrating his ordeal during a Thanksgiving at an Anglican Church in Owerri, Imo State, Mr. Okoro said that he wrestled with death and conquered because God said it was not his time.

“Initially I had the same notion that Covid – 19 after all may not be real but I was wrong. This is the reason when I contracted it, I had the faintest idea of what was wrong with me.

“For five good days I was battling for life as I totally lost the understanding of myself. It was such a discomforting experience. Breathing became almost impossible.

“It took Dr. Ejike Orji of Nigeria center for Disease Control (NCDC)’s timely intervention to save my life.

“After receiving my call, the team came immediately, ran some tests, which came out the same day, confirming I was positive for coronavirus. They did not wait a minute to evacuate me to the isolation centre in Gwagwalada Teaching Hospital, Abuja.

Okoro wondered what his family could have believed if anything had happened to him. “You can imagine what my family could have thought. I left home hale and hearty only a story to be told that I was gone. How could anyone believe that?” he asked.

Explaining his ordeal, Okoro said he spent extra 14 days in the isolation center within which he experienced excruciating pains before he recovered and tested negative for the dreaded disease. “I never believed I could survive this dreaded virus and that is the reason I went to the church to publicly declare the the grace amd mercy of God upon my life,” he said.

He warned motorists to be mindful how they use air conditioners with those they know nothing about their health status, saying that he contracted Covid – 19 in an air conditioned vehicle where someone had given him a lift. “For those of you who love air conditioner, I would advise that you wind down your window classes, particularly when you are in a vehicle with those you know little or nothing about their health status.”

“Again, I will also advise people to always exercise because it helps your general well being, especially one’s heart health and general fitness,” he stated.
