Fiscal Federalism: Ondo, Others To Join Lagos, Rivers In VAT Collection Battle

Following the ongoing battle between the federal and government and state governments on control of Value Added Tax, indications are rife that Ondo State Government and other Southern states may join Lagos and River States in their battle to collect Value Added Tax(VAT) in their domains.

Though no official statement has been advanced on the vexatious issue but sources revealed that plans were on the way to send a bill to the Assembly on the matter.

The source also revealed that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was ready to support any move to increase finances to the coffers of the State.

According to the Nation, the Governor is reportedly not happy with Ondo Doctor’s strike over payment of percent salaries.

Another official said the Ondo Governor was waiting for the final decision by the Supreme Court before making a move.
