UNILORIN 400 Level Student In Police Net For Allegedly Beating Female Lecturer To Coma

A 400 level male student of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) is in police net for allegedly attacking a female lecturer of the institution.

The student was said to have beaten his victim, one Mrs. Zakariyyah of the department of microbiology, to a coma.

The video of how the student attacked the lecturer went viral on social media at the weekend.

Spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command Ajayi Okasanmi said the incident had not been reported to the command for investigation.

But a source at the university confided in our correspondent that the student had been handed over to the police.

In a statement, Akogun said: “This is to confirm that Mrs Zakariyyah is now relatively stable and recuperating after the ugly incident of Thursday where she was attacked by a 400L male student.

“A visit by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sulyman AbdulKareem  in the company of the Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Prof. Oladiji; the Director, University Health Services, Dr. Odunola and a few other staff to the victim and her family this morning, Saturday, 13th November 2021 confirmed that.

“The VC, who described the incident as sad and

unfortunate, assured that justice shall be done on the matter.”

He added, that Prof AbdulKareem had ordered proper care of the victim on the bill of the university.

The VC also reiterated his commitment to the welfare of all staff and law-abiding students.
