Topic: Nothing between!

“ So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes”” (Genesis 35:2 NIV)

God said to Jacob to go to Bethel (The House of God) and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when were fleeing from your brother Esau (Genesis 35:1) Jacob was willing to go, and he called on his household to prepare and go with him. And in there preparation, he instructed them to get rid of all foreign gods with them and cleans themselves and change their clothes.
Parents have been invited to appear before God for worship and for other services. It will be a wrong thing for parents to go leaving their children and their wards at home to play and watch televisions. When going before God, every form of idols must be get rid of. Jacob ordered his household to get rid of their foreign gods to ensure that nothing stands between them and God. Today, unless we remove idols from our lives, they can ruin our faith and mar our relationship with God.
What idols do you have? An idol is anything you put before God. Idols don’t have to be physical objects; they can be thoughts or desires which are not in tune with thus says the Lord. Jacob told his household to purify themselves and change their clothes as they prepare to go. In the same vein, as we prepare to go to worship God, both parents and children alike should purify themselves by laying aside every malice, hatred, divisions, fighting and make their hearts open and clean to receive the word of God. It also behooves on the parents to choose appropriate attire suitable for worship for themselves and for their children. Parents and their children should not appear before God half naked or on self attracting and seducing attire. Such are ungodly and can stand between the worshipper and God hence should be avoided.
As you prepare to go for worship and for the gospel mission, ensure that nothing stands between you and God, I assure you His blessings will not elude you in Jesus name.

Prayer
Dear Jesus, I have decided to serve you and go on your mission, please Lord prepare me, cleans me that nothing would stand between me and you. Let not my character, dressing and my speeches be a barrier to the spreading of your message. Help me to keep my way clear, I ask in Jesus name, Amen.
