*TOPIC: HOW COULD YOU DO SUCH A WICKED THING?*

_No one is greater in this house than I am, My master has withheld nothing from me except you because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God? (Genesis 39:9 NIV)_

Sin is wickedness against God and man. It brings separation between God and man and destroys human relationships. Hence sin should be avoided at all cost. Moreover, to live a life of sin or obedience to God is a choice you have to take daily, and the choices you make today will affect your future. Joseph was a handsome young man (a slave) in the house of Potiphar. He was placed in a high position as a caretaker in the house of his master despite his status as a slave. Joseph chose to live right and to discharge his duties faithfully and to please God in his life.
But the devil wanted to destroy him through the lustful eyes of his master’s wife who tried on different occasions to seduce him to sin against God. The young Joseph resisted the temptations of the woman by saying it would be a sin against God. Yes, every sin: Sexual immoralities, watching of pornographic films and pictures, disobedience to your parents and teachers, stealing, telling lies etc. are acts of disobedience against God. What are the sins enticing you today? Whatever your case may be, the faithful and obedient act of the young Joseph will be of help to you if you chose to emulate him.
Joseph faced a great temptation that would have destroyed him and God’s plans for him. The temptation offered him immediate pleasures and perishable gains, but he chose to obey God. Hence, he avoided Potiphar’s wife as much as possible. He refused her advances and finally ran from her (Gen.39:10-13). Satan will bring before you reasons for you to sin against God, his temptations are very strong and seem almost difficult to overcome. Know that merely trying to avoid temptation is not enough. You must turn and run from the scene or environment of temptations, especially when they seem very strong as is often the case in sexual temptations. May the Lord grant you the grace to choose not to do that wicked thing that is capable of destroying your relationship with God and man.

*Song*
My Jesus, I love thee, I know Thou art mine;
For thee all the follies of sin I resign.
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art thou;
If ever I loved thee, my Jesus, ‘tis now.

*Prayer*
Dear Lord, help me to trust your words and to obey you at all time. Help me daily to live and to walk in the path of righteousness I ask in Jesus name, Amen.
