Uzodimma Working Hard To Recover Imo Roads 1

While the days of locust and the destruction of the cankerworms have come and gone, their ruins still stare us in the face.

Imo State was described as a submerging city occasioned by the rudderless pseudo leaders who came to play the role of devourers. through their dysfunctional policies and implementation.

Roads were opened but only to become ecological crisis. No part of the state is spared from these horrors of washed off soils and some areas readily became ponds.

MCC Road was one of the major roads advertised by Okorocha’s administration to have been fixed but that was not to be. Going by his standard, the road, as it was his tradition, received demonic attention and since that touch, the road has remained a nightmare to the residents and the people of Uratta, Emkuku and their immediate environs.

What most people do not know in construction is that it is quite difficult to correct a failed structure, road or any building at all. It is even worse when such structure does not have a design.

It is rather unfortunate that at every little opportunity, Okorocha’s Media handlers who have no iota of shame would jump up counting some of the projects they constructed, including man made gullies they energetically contracted to themselves, supervised it and deliver as killer projects.

Such projects abound, including their once they initiative at their home fronts.

MCC Road, I could recall was awarded for rehabilitation as soon Okorocha took over government. In line with his agreement with the Agbasos who also played a role when he was seeking election. The contract as usual began with a no known contractor. All the accolades were returned with a regretting pay back with road that was bound to fail.

It was a project that could best be described as spite to Owerri people who gave him votes on the ground that he had something to offer.

The road cut across Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and serves as an alternative route to Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia highway. It remains very strategic to socio-politico-economic well being of residents and villages along the axis, especially the indigenes of Owerri in Uratta area.

For the first time in Imo State, a kilometer of road was pegged at N10 to N20 million. Of course contractors who could not bear economic crunch and hunger readily accepted the bargain. At the end of the day, it was garbage-in-garbage-out.

When Governor Hope Uzodimma came on board, he chose not to play politics with the road. He willingly inherited the impassable road, went to work. He focused on the first thing first – the best way to evacuate volumes of water during rains. This led to the construction of the underground tunnel as Chukwuma Nwaoha, earth work began in earnest but for rains, the project stopped.

Better late than late. The residents around MCC Road axis are full of laughter as contractors have gone back on site

With the the antecedent of his knack for quality, it is expected that soon, the impassable MCC will become passable and the economy of the area will come alive again.

Like Mr. Uzoma Jacobs rightly said, “we need nothing from Governor Hope Uzodimma but helping us to fix our around that has put us down. We visit mechanic workshops everyday because of the bad road”.

“Ride on our Governor”, he excitedly said.
