Ajih Urges Imo Govt to Pay Former Deputy Governor His Emoluments

Hon. Emeka Ajih, former Aide to Prince Eze Madumere has called on Imo State Government to obey court orders rather than resorting to self help.

Hon. Ajih made the call while speaking with our correspondent,

He said that the former Deputy Governor’s resort to using the court to recover his statutory emoluments and other benefits is the right thing to do.

“It is worrisome to see some government agents act in a certain way that surely presents our state as lawless.

“The only legitimate means to seek redress when you feel injured in a wrong way without taking the laws into your hands is by going to the court. The matter boarders on his unpaid statutory emoluments for over 5 years.

“He approached the court since 2019 and I learnt he got judgment since July 2021. It takes the court over eleven months to issue Garnishee Order Absolute, which means other avenue must have been created to settle out of court.

“Attacking court Officials was uncalled for. Today, I understand that Imo State Government and Zenith Bank have been granted leave to appeal.

“I worked in that office as S.A Special Duties. I saw it all. He sued the government while he was still the Deputy Governor, which is showing cause that he wanted the money to be paid under the administration he served.

“Government is a continuum and today he has gotten judgment. I thought Government had every opportunity to up their game in court but superior argument prevailed.

“Prince Madumere served Imo State Government meritoriously and left office not leaving anyone in doubt that he served with passion with his aides also left without their emoluments.

“I know the money sounds big but it is nothing to compare with what is obtainable for the Office of the Deputy Governor”, he stated.
