Vote Credible Leaders, Kaduna Cleric Urge Church Members
The Pastor of Rhema Baptist Church at Sabo Tasha, Kaduna State, Chatwason Nathan, has said that worshippers should vote for credible leaders, who have the interests of the downtrodden at heart, come 2023.
Nathan made this known during the church service on Sunday.
According to him, bad leaders, who inflict hardship on the people are brought to power when citizens fail to exercise their civic responsibility.
“You must ensure you have your Permanent Voters Card because that’s the only weapon you have to vote for credible leaders who have the interest of the downtrodden at heart,” he said.
He decried a situation where Christians were displaced from their ancestral lands and made hopeless under the watch of a government that ought to look after them.
He charged his members not to vote for any presidential or governorship candidate who decided to fly a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 general election.
“I will curse any member who cast his vote for any presidential candidate or governorship candidate that flies a Muslim-Muslim ticket come 2023.
“We are governed by a constitution and those in the position of power must adhere to the rule of law in order to enhance fairness and justice,” he said
He said it was regrettable that some Islamic clerics in the northern part of the country were already beating drums of war by inciting the Muslims against the Christians.
He tasked Christians to defend themselves against unprovoked attacks.
“You must ensure you use your PVC as your only instrument to eject evil leaders who have brought shame, tears, and agony upon our land,” he said
The pastor asked the Mission Committee in the Church to identify any Internally Displaced Persons’ camp around so that the church could assist them with relief materials to help alleviate their suffering.
