Crime File: Police arrest evil architect of Abuja foiled bank robbery
While the dust generated by the foiled attempted Abuja bank robbery is yet to settle, development of the story have continued on the path of progress.
Recall that NewsTrack had reported that operatives of Nigerian Police, Abuja Command had arrested some of the affected new generation bank with a view to unraveling the true masterminds of the daring stunt of robbing a first generation bank in Mpape, Abuja.
The investigation revealed the true gang leader following the confession of one of the customer service staff of the bank who was identifies as Larry Ehizo while facing the police crime crack team. The staff who gave useful information in relation to his role in the whole melee and his relationship to the robbery gang leader.
In quick progressive streak, operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad have arrested one Ernest Ewim, a 29 year old, believed to be the mastermind of the foiled bank robbery In Mpape area of Abuja.
Recall that one of the suspected robbers was killed by the police, while four others were arrested in the incident.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police Command, DSP Ajugunri Manzah, on Thursday read, “Following the on-going investigation in the last Saturday’s foiled robbery attempt at a bank in Mpape, Operatives of the FCT Police Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad have arrested one Ernest Ewim ‘m’ 29years a member of the notorious armed robbery gang who has been at large.
“The suspect who played a major role in the foiled robbery attempt was arrested by the team of Police Detectives at his hideout in Katampe1 on Wednesday 1st January, 2020 at about 1600hrs.
“With this arrest, the total number of suspects arrested in connection with the foiled robberyattempt are now five (5):- Ernest Ewim ‘m’ 29years Larry Ehizo ‘m’ 30 years, Princewill Obinna ‘m’ 24years, Timothy Joe ‘m’ 21years, and Elijah David ‘m’ 19 years
“The Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to ensure the protection of lives and property and provide FCT residents with quality service delivery.
“The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.“
