JAMB suspends NIN for 2020 UTME registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB on Saturday announced that it has suspended the use of the National Identity Number (NIN) as prerequisite for registration of applicants for 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME).

JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede announced the suspension during a briefing at the headquaters of the board in Bwari, Abuja

Oloyede was joined at the briefing by the Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission, Aliyu Aziz.

The Registrar said the suspension is not unconnected with the technical challenges being experienced at some centers.

He also gave assurance that the suspension of NIN will not affect other laid down procedures for JAMB registration exercise.

Earlier the Board on its handle had tweeted the suspension of the of NIN for 2020 registration .

The tweet reads:

NIN IS SUSPENDED FOR 2020 REGISTRATION. CANDIDATES ARE TO ONLY SEND THEIR NAMES TO 55019 TO CREATE PROFILE. NO NEED FOR NIN FOR 2020 REGISTRATION.
