Imo Guber Apex Court Judgment: Imo Police Command, other agencies on red alert
Following the realities of the heightened tensed atmosphere occasioned expected Supreme Court Judgement on Imo governorship election, Imo Police Command has expressed its readiness, working in concert with other security agencies, to ensure security of lives and property.
This charge was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
The State police command also sought the understanding of the parties involved to maintain decorum irrespective of the party that wins or loses.
It also warned members of the party that might win to allow reason, respect and responsibility be their guiding principle while jubilating.
It therefore advise the public to go about their lawful businesses without any fear of molestation as the agencies have put the machineries in motion to maintain law and order.
The statement reads:
“In view of the supreme court judgement on the IMO STATE Governorship election, which is scheduled to hold on Monday, 13/01/20. The IMO state Police command in conjunction with other security agencies in the state wish to express its readiness to ensure safety and security of Members of the public during and after the judgement.
“The Command therefore warn all the parties involved to maintain decorum before, during and after the judgement, It further advice whichever party that comes out victorious to be responsible and respect other people’s rights while jubilating and celebrating, and not to use such medium to ferment trouble or conduct themselves in a manner that could cause breach of the public peace.
“Similarly, it warned whichever party that looses to also be peaceful and maintain decorum, as the loss will afford the said party to reflect, restrategise and prepare for the next election.
“Members of the public are therefore advised to go about their lawful business without fear of molestation, as machineries are emplaced to ensure security of lives and properties of all and sundry.
“Parents and guardians are advised to warned their children and wards not to allow themselves to be used by anyone or group to ferment trouble anywhere in the state, as any person or group of persons arrested will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
