NLC Warning Strike: Imo Govt MDAs Observe Partial Compliance As Banks Shun Shun Organised Labour

The reports trickling in from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and other states shows that the Nigeria Labour Congress warning Strike was successful except in Imo State where compliance was only partial.

Our reporter who visited the Imo State Ministries at the Secretariat reported that the complex was scanty as most offices were shut.

She also observed that most of the senior workers were in their offices as workers working directly under them were also seen around the offices with their drivers.

Meanwhile, the private sector which is mainly dominated by the banks totally shun the warning Strike, thereby defeating the aim and objecting of the warning Strike..

Speaking with of the staff at the State secretariat who would not want his name to be mentioned said many civil servants observed the warning Strike but was quick to say that there is crack in the leadership of the organised labour in the state.

“We have factions in the state. One divide is for the Governor while the other group is working with the National Chairman, Joe Ajaero. This has made the organised labour in the state to be a mere toothless bulldog.”

Another worker, a driver, who also pleaded for anonymity said the senior staff are working with Governor’s faction of the NLC and therefore only owes their allegiance to the Governor.

Meanwhile, major roads in Owerri, the capital city of the state witnessed huge traffic as markets were open for businesses.
