Introduction:
My name is Chief Adolph Anokwute ‘Abamaragu Orlu’. I am a trained Economist, and entrepreneur, a contractor and a loving father.
My resolve to get into the murky waters of politics is basically to help in influencing the decision of the government towards improving the living standards of the people. You can’t stay at home and be pointing a finger and apportioning blames when you can do something, say something and influence the decision of the government for the people.
Again, I love to help my people but I do not have all the resources to handle some humanitarian projects but only governmENT has such resources. That is why I got involved. Meanwhile, I am a core businessman and I am not a vocational politician.
What is the reason for your support for Governor Hope Uzodimma’s second term in office?
There are a number of things we must realise. It is wrong for anyone to begin to change what is good. Against all odds, Governor Hope Uzodimma has shown capacity and patriotism in the State and for this reason, I am in support. Edmund Burke, the father of Modern Conservatism says that you do not change what is good. Yes, we are in Democracy, if we have found a great mind like Hope, we should for goodness sake allow him to accomplish all the worthy programmes he has for Ndi Imo.
Can We Have In Concrete Terms What Hope Has Done To Warrant His Return:
First and foremost, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma came to power in such a manner all could see that it was an act of God and in appreciation, he has done so to give God all the glory.
He promised to fix the major economic Roads in the State whether Federal or State and he was able to achieve that. Look at the Owerri-Okigwe Express Way of over 50 kilometres, it is zoom-zoom. Remember road place was a nightmare but today, the story is different. That road is to the benefits of all, especially the people of Ikeduru, Mbano, Okigwe, Onuimo among others who found it difficult to visit home.
He replicated the same feat on Owerri – Orlu Express way, the same dual carriage with street lights. Owerri North, Mbaitoli, Njaba, Orlu local government areas have had their problem solved to a great extent.
The same love he has shown to the people of Owerri North, Mbaise Nation and Obowo. That road had also collapsed but Uzodimma fixed them without much ado.
People Say Those Roads Federal Roads?
Did we not have Governors who had come and gone and left those roads still in that impassable condition? Those roads are the heart of commerce and social interactions among our people and the neighbouring States. Those roads open doors for investment. Remember that our traders suffered great losses because most vehicles bearing goods got drenched in dirty water with transporters losings millions of naira recovering and fixing vehicles. It was his initiative. You and I know that no money has been paid back to the State but it was purely done to improve the living standard and enhance the ease of doing business in the State.
Some Imolites Are Of The View That so Much Blood were stilled under him as He Is Unable To Stem the Menace of Insecurity?
My brother, we understand the problem of insecurity. Politicisation of Insecurity is the bane of its resolution. There is need to strike a difference between Criminal elements, sponsored crisis and real agitators.
It is the people’s inalienable rights to agitate when they feel marginalised but when criminal elements cash in on that, it is usually dangerous.
Senator Hope Uzodimma has pleaded and is still pleading for people to change from the destructive way to building. Remember he is one of the victims of insecurity and he is at the top of the situation. He has shown capacity and I know that in no distant time, those behind the mask will be revealed.
What Happened With Corporate Governance In Imo?
Well, no government can be said to be more transparent than Imo State government under the leadership of Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Nothing is done without the act of the parliament. Remember, he has been a Senator and he understands the procedure and the statutory inclinations to transparent governance.
Again, no project is put forward without due process of passing through appropriation at the legislative arm of government.
It is an open secret that in the gender inclusivity in Governance and appointments, Governor has given the women their fare share. Today, his running mate is from Owerri Zone, Mbaitoli to be precise. It’s a Woman, Mrs. Chinyere Ekomaru.
In the area of fiscal responsibility, ISOPADEC 13% derivation no longer finds its way to people’s pocket. In three years, three well equipped hospitals are there to show how fiscally responsible Uzodimma led government is.
Since 1999, Imo State Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has been all time low because of primitive accumulation of wealth. Today, Imo OGR under three years has been raised to₦ 3 billion and still counting.
With The Likely Voters Apathy, Do You Think that Senator Hope Will Make the Winning Votes?
Sure, he will win with a wide margin. We cannot see any serious contender campaigning. All Progressives Congress is everywhere and visible. Our campaign is grassroots based. I will call you after the election.
There Are Allegation that APC Had Already Written Results Before Election, What’s Your Take On This?
The opposition elements know they are going no where and they chose to give themselves a soft landing. They know there is no contest on November 11, 2023 governorship election because Hope Uzodimma’s performance has overwhelmed them. It is a mere here say to help themselves.
