Covid – 19: ISCA condemns killings, manhandling of Nigerians, says it’s barbaric
The umbrella organization of Imo State citizens in America under the aegis of Imo State Congress of America (ISCA) has bemoaned the alleged wanton killing of Nigerians by security personnel, describing it as barbaric.
In a statement by its President, Engr. Sampson Udeh, the group could not find any justification for the alleged killings in the guise of enforcing ‘stay at home policy’ to prevent Covid – 19 pandemic.
According to the statement, ISCA condemns the extortion of the suffering masses by the law enforcement personnel who should know better.
“We realize this is a hard time and lockdown order has added more stress to the sufferings our people are facing. We don’t see any reason the people should be meted with all manner of enslavement, extortion and in the worst scenario, killing them.
” From the report we garnered, more Nigerians may have died from the guns of the security personnel than from the dreaded pandemic of covid – 19″
On the contribution of the group in the battle against the spread of pandemic, he said:
“ISCA has concluded plans to assist the government in the fight to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus in Imo State.
” The congress has already to embarked in making facial masks and PPE available to the most vulnerable in our society and the front line personnel.
“Guided by her medical experts and scientists led by Dr. Joe Anyanwu, ISCA is working hard to assist in making a test center possible in Imo State.
He however revealed that ISCA decided to postpone her 2020 annual convention till next year owing to the covid – 19 pandemic, which has affected every facet of life globally.
