BREAKING: IGP Adamu Sets Up New Unit (SWAT), Orders Mental Check For Dissolved SARS Personnel

Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu has set up new Anti Robbery Squad called Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team to replace the Following the dissolution of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).

The IGP, Adamu had dissolved SARS following a nationwide protest by virtually every section of the populace in an organized protest tagged #EndSARS Protests.

According to the statement by the Police Spokesman, Frank Mba, the IGP has ordered the personnel of disbanded SARS to report to the Police Headquarters, Abuja for debriefing.

They said personnel are also expected to go through psychological and other medical examinations.

The formation of new unit (SWAT) is coming 48 hours after the Inspector General of Polce, Muhammed Adamu dissolved the SARS.

Meanwhile, the protest has continued across the country following the expression of sad past incidents where the federal government had announced the dissolution of the said unit but they later resurfaced.

Protests took place in Lagos yesterday were one of the protesting youth was reportedly shot dead in Surulere while others sustained bullet wounds.

Today, Tuesday, Owerri metropolis, the capital city of Imo State also witnessed large organized crowd protesting the streets of Owerri, causing heavy gridlock. Wetheral, Band and Okigwe roads witnessed serious traffic jam.

Another group, which called itself Imo Stars, which happens to be names Imo State University undergraduates and Graduates address one another Imo Stars were also on the street following ceaseless hounding of their students by men of SARS.
