Flush out criminals from Imo, Gov. Ihedioha charges Security Agencies

Living up to the first charge of any government, which boarders on security of lives and property, the Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha ,Tuesday, launched Operation Iron Gate, charging the security agencies to rid the state of all criminal elements.

Ihedioha spoke during the inauguration of a joint security operation, saying that his administration would ensure that the people of the state enjoy maximum security.

Said he , “It is the sole responsibility of the government to provide for the welfare , peace and security of the citizens . Consequently , on assumption of office , we took very critical, positive and deliberate steps to ensure that we meet our people at the point of their needs .

“It is very imperative that we have to take deliberate steps to apprehend criminals , who have begun to threaten the peace of our state and land .

“Also , our draft bill to set up a security trust fund is ready and we believe that the House of Assembly will begin to deal with it.

“The government of Imo State is appreciative of the battle readiness of the security agencies to ensure total security in the state .”

The governor stated that he was pleased with work that all the security chiefs and chairmen of the local government areas were doing in tackling crime in the state .

The state Commissioner of Police , Rabiu Ladodo, who spoke on behalf all the security chiefs , said the Operation Iron Gate would be holistic .

Ladodo promised that the security agencies would take the war to the hideouts of criminal elements in the state .

High point of the event was the distribution of 80 operational vehicles to the outfit during the ceremony, with a chrage that issues of kidnapping , armed robbery, child trafficking and other forms of crimes should be dealt with decisively .
