BREAKING: Pandemonium As Yahoo Boys Engage Police in Shooting match, one feared dead

There was pandemonium with people scampering for safety in ozoro community in Isoko North local government area of Delta State, on Monday, as those who ply their trade in advance fee fraud known as yahoo boys engage the officers of the Nigerian Police in a gun battle.

According to a witness, the sporadic shooting that took place on the 3rd of August 2020 was caused by a massive protest staged by members of the illicit business, against the continual police disturbances and unwarranted arrest.

The source disclosed that trouble started to mount in the community when one of the Yahoo boy from Ghana came to perform sacrifices to initiate the proceeding of the much-planned protest to turn the face of the police away from their illicit business. The source disclosed that the angry youths in their numbers went berserk, destroying everything in sight. It was during this riotous event with shooting spree a boy was hit by an unknown bullet and died.  Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Onome Onovwakpoyeya when contacted said “we heard that yahoo boys protested. We are still trying to investigate who shot. Another youth said to have been hit by bullets was rushed to the hospital.

The source disclosed that the group was seen  chanting various songs while waving placards with various inscriptions: Stop police brutality in Ozoro etc. only to start destroying things to the extent of torching the palace of the Traditional Ruler of Ozoro Community, HRM (Barr.) Uvietobore Anthony Ogbogbo Ibuka 1.


The protesters were also accused of burning down the house of the Vigilante group leader ( OPASCO)  whose name was simply given as Mr. David.

During their protest, they were saying, Police harassment must stop. Na hustle we dey hustle, we no dey steal Police harassment must stop, their songs.

As at the time of filing this report, the community members are tensed while the police are combing the area in search of trouble makers.

During this protest, various stories that two members of the  Nigerian police were rumored to have been killed but it can be confirmed that such news was fake news as it where mere ploy and propaganda to further the aid and objectives of the organizers of this protest.

It must be said that as at the time of this report peace and order have been restored in the community of Ozoro Isoko North local government area of Delta State and an 8 pm lockdown time has been announced to checkmate all activities in the community.
