ACCOMPLISHED: INEC Declares Obaseki Winner Of 2020 Edo Guber Election, Confines Oshiomole, Ize-Iyamu To Life Support

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki winner of Edo Governorship Election and thereby will governor the State for another four-year term.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate was declared winner by the INEC having won 307,955 votes in yesterday’s governorship ballot as against 223,619 by his closest rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He was declared winner at about 2:00 p.m. by the Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Akpofure Rem-Rukeh.

Obaseki beat Ize-Iyamu including in the latter’s home local government area, Orhionmwon.

The election held yesterday was generally peaceful and witnessed high turnout of voters.

Obaseki’s victory has brought to an end the scuffle between him and his estranged godfather, Adams Oshiomole.

According to our correspondent, the election was won by people’s will to end godfatherism.

The State is agog as Obaseki supports have taken to the street, singing victory songs with some rolling on the ground and shedding tears of joy.
