Pray For Peace, Unity Of Nigeria, Madumere Charges Clerics

Imo State Former Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere has urged clerics not to relent in their fervent prayers for the peace and unity of Nigeria.

The former deputy governor made the call, Saturday, at the All Saints and Angels Church (Anglican Communion) in the World Bank area of Owerri at the occasion of Collation Thanksgiving and Reception of Venerable & Mrs. Emmanuel Agoha.

While congratulating Ven. Agoha on his new status as the Venerable of Anglican Church and his chosen path of grace in the Lord’s Vineyard, he said the country is facing serious challenges of protracted goals, ethnic divisions and security.

He there stressed on the intercessory prayers of the clerics, urging them not to relent in their ordained duties of guiding faithful to the right path of peace, tolerance and unity.

Bemoaning the path Nigeria is taking, he called for cleansing of negative spirits through true reconciliation and tolerance, which he said religious leaders would have to play a major role.

He encouraged Ven. Agoha to be strong and remain resolute in standing for the truth and preaching God’s unadulterated words to the people for repentance and peace.

He said: “I am here to join other Christians, particularly the Anglicans to celebrate with my own brother, Venerable Emmanuel Agoha on this day of Thanksgiving; to thank God for His mercies and grace upon him as he continues to work in his vineyard.

“I also want to use this opportunity to call on him and other clerics not to get tired of praying for the unity and peace for Nigeria.

“Today’s Nigeria is encumbered with numerous problems of protractive goals, ethnic divisions and security challenges. There is so much negative spirit in the atmosphere. There is a need to cleanse the system. Those to do that are the clerics.

“I therefore urge them to continue in their intercessory prayers for divine intervention so that the country can move forward.”
