Angry Youths Attack Journalist In Imo



Imo State based Journalist, Chidiebube Okeoma reportedly escaped death by whiskers on Saturday, when irate youths of Atta Community, Njaba local government area of the state beat him blue and black.

The youths also confiscated his working tools which included telephone handset and tablet as well as stole some amount of money from him.

Okeoma informed our correspondent via WhatsApp that he might not have survived if not for the swift intervention of the traditional ruler of the community, Eze Regimius Ezike, who God used to save him.

Okeoma, who is the Imo State Correspondent of The Punch said; “The youths of Atta Community nearly lynched me.

“They seized and damaged my gadgets as well as stole my money.

“I told them they don’t have any reason to attack me, that I’m a journalist who is in community to do my work. They accused me of being a government agent.”

The reporter said he had travelled to the community from Owerri to investigate the burning down of the Atta Divisional Police Headquarters, Magistrate and High Courts as well as Health Centre by unknown gunmen earlier in the day.
