It was a solemn evening as family, friends and sympathisers gathered to pay their last respect to Hon (Mrs). Risikat Ajoke Adegeye, wife of Juju maestro, King Sunny Ade.

It was at the service of songs held in her honour in Ikeja, Lagos.

The service of songs is part of a two-day funeral ceremony arranged for the deceased.

The Nation reports Risikat, former Lagos Assemblymember who represented Amuwo-Odofin between 2011 and 2015, passed on after a brief illness last week.

The Juju maestro lost her a few hours to his 75th birthday.

Late Risikat is survived by her grieving husband and son, George Folarin.

Dignitaries, including Lagos Assembly members led by its majority leader, Hon. Sanni Agunbiade and many others graced the service of songs.

The Vicar, Christ Anglican Church, Amuwo-Odofin, I.A Omidiji in his message, prayed and commiserated with the family.

He testified to the deceased’s philanthropic gestures stating that “She bought the musical organ used in the church today, she was so accommodating. She was a good woman”.

Drawing his message from John 14:1-4, Omidiji said: “Heaven is a prepared place only for prepared people; it is a place of rest. Christians do not die, they are resting in the bosom of the Lord.”

King Sunny Ade described his wife as a heroine and an achiever.

He said: “She was always there for me, the family, my band, the African beats and well-wishers each time the opportunity available her, her slogan was “Welfare for All”.

Her son, Folarin George, said: “My heart aches to know that you are no more but I take solace in knowing that you’re now resting in the Lord’s bosom.

“It will be difficult to express how I will miss you in few words because you were a mother by all positive definition”.
