Alvan Ikoku Fed. College Of Educ. To Hold 27th Convocation Oct. 14, Honour Arch Obinna, Chief Iwuanyanwu, Others
Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri holds her 27th Convocation ceremony on Thursday, October 14, 2021.
The forthcoming event was contained in a press release signed by the Institution Registrar, Barr. Benneth Anyanwu.
It is expected that graduands with NCE (Regular, Sandwich and Evening), Professional Diploma in Education, graduands of the College and B.Ed in affiliation with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka shall all convoke on the said date, which starts at 10 am, which will hold at the College Convocation Arena.
The week-long activities starting from Sunday, 10 October, 2021 will include an Inter-denominational Thanksgiving Service, Exhibitions and Theatre Performances, Prize-Giving and Fellowship Awards.
Meanwhile, the institution will also have some distinguished Nigerians decorated as Fellows of the College. The personalities include Most Rev. Anthony Obinna, the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Owerri Catholic Archdiocese; Chief (Engr.) Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, celebrated businessman, politician and Statesman; Deacon Chike Okafor, Member of the House of representatives and humanitarian; Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola, Vice-Chancellor Chrisland University; Mr. Leonard Stanley Ekeh (Leo Stan), Chief Executive of Zinox Computers and seasoned entrepreneur and Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru, Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
Others are Professor Ernest Emenyonu, literary giant and former Provost of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri and Professor Benjamin Osisioma, former chairman of ANAN.
The College will also honour other personalities under the category of “Friend of the College”, Dr. Joy Njemanze, Retired Permanent Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Royal Health Maintenance Services Limited and Mr Augustine Ugi, Chief Executive Officer of Nugi Technologies and the Group Chairman of the Nugi group of companies.
The ceremony will also see the installation of Dr. Anthony Ekwe as “Docent Emeritus”. He will become the first retired staff member to be given the acclaimed honour.
A Convocation Lecture titled, “Towards Sustainable Education in the 21st Century: What Role for Teacher Education in Nigeria?” will be delivered by Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba, former Vice-Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, on Wednesday, 13 October, 2021.
