Nigerians Must Be First In Your Priorities, Madumere Urges Akpabio, Other Leaders Of Nat. Assembly

Former Deputy Governor of Imo State Prince Eze Madumere has said that he has confidence in the leadership of the National Assembly.

The former Deputy Governor made the statement in a press release issued by his Media aide, Uche Onwuchekwa.

He described Akpabio as a well experienced politician and administrator with antecedents of uncommon performance in various positions has had occupied prior to his emergence as the Senate President.

His words: ” Senate Godswill Akpabio is well known. As a Governor, he left a lasting legacy in his home State for two terms. The structures are still there. As a Senator, he also performed creditably well.

“When he was appointed a Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, with his result oriented disposition, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Headquarters was made habitable after almost twenty years the project started. He saves so much money on rents.

“In the same manner, the Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas and hIs Deputy, Benjamin Kalu are also experienced. They have contributed to the welfare of Nigerians through their legislative inputs. And they know the rules.”

Advising them, he admonished to consider Nigerian masses first in their legislations.

He also told not to build Walls around themselves so as not to be far away from the realities of the developments in the polity.

When asked if he would have wanted a South-Easterner to be Senate President, he answered; “Wishes are different from political realities. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Osita Izunaso gave their best shots but this is like a collegiate election where it is the only members that would decide who leads them.

“The ruling wanted the candidates who emerged and went for it. I commend them for their effort. They are ably qualified but that’s politics”.
