Title: A New Beginning
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; fools despise wisdom and instruction – Proverbs 1:7
As we step into this new year, we may feel excited and hopeful for all the possibilities that lie ahead. But it’s important to remember that the choices we make will shape our future. Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
This verse reminds us that the foundation of true wisdom and knowledge is a reverence for God. When we seek to honor and obey Him, we open ourselves up to His guidance and understanding.
The second half of the verse warns us against foolishness.
Fools reject wisdom and instruction, thinking they know better than anyone else. They make choices based on their own desires, without considering the consequences. So as we begin this new year, let’s choose to be wise. Let’s seek God’s guidance and instruction in all that we do. Let’s listen to the advice of those who are wiser than us, and learn from their experiences. And let’s make choices that honor God and lead us down the path of righteousness.
Remember, the choices we make today will shape our future. Let’s choose wisely, with the fear of the Lord as our guide.
Life Application/Thought for Reflection: As we start this new year, let’s remember that true wisdom comes from honoring and obeying God. Let’s seek His guidance and instruction in all that we do, and make choices that honor Him and lead us down the path of righteousness.

Prayer :
Dear God, as we step into this new year, we thank You for the opportunities and possibilities that lie ahead. Help us to seek Your guidance and instruction in all that we do. Give us the wisdom to make choices that honor You and lead us down the path of righteousness. We pray that You would open our hearts and minds to receive the advice and wisdom of those who are wiser than us. May Your presence be with us throughout this year, guiding and directing our steps. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
