Title: Real Love is Patient
“ I am dark but lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon.” Song of Solomon 1:5
Have you ever heard people say they “love” things like chocolate or a movie? That’s not the same love the Bible talks about. Real love is so much more!
Real love, the kind the Bible talks about, is patient and kind. It means trusting each other, being kind even when it’s hard, and not keeping track of mistakes. It’s like building a strong castle together, brick by brick.
In the Song of Solomon, Solomon’s wife talks about feeling insecure. She thinks she’s not pretty, but Solomon tells her she’s beautiful. He makes her feel special and loved, even when she feels unsure.
That’s what real love does. It lifts others up and makes them feel valued. It doesn’t expect anything in return; it just gives and gives.
Sometimes we think love is just about feeling good together, like magic. But real love takes work. It’s like watering a plant every day to make it grow big and strong.
When we choose to love each other every day, even when it’s hard, it makes our love stronger. It helps us feel safe and happy together.
So, remember, real love is patient and kind. It’s not about just feeling good, but about making each other feel special and cared for. Keep growing in love every day!
Thought for Reflection / Life Application
Think about someone in your life who may need some extra love and encouragement. How can you show them kindness and make them feel special today? Remember that real love is patient and kind, even when it’s hard. Is there a time recently when you showed patience or kindness to someone? Just like Solomon saw beauty in his wife, think about how you can see the good in others. Make an effort to notice and appreciate the special things about the people around you.
Song
I am so glad that our Father in Heav’n
Tells of His love in the Book He has giv’n;
Wonderful things in the Bible I see;
This is the dearest, that Jesus loves me.
Chorus
I am so glad that Jesus loves me,
Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me;
I am so glad that Jesus loves me,
Jesus loves even me.
Prayer
Dear God, Thank you for teaching us about real love through the story of Solomon and his wife. Help us to remember to be patient and kind, just like you are with us. Show us how to make others feel special and valued, even when they feel unsure about themselves. Help us to see the beauty in everyone around us. Guide us to love others without expecting anything in return, just like you love us. May our actions and words show the love that you have for each and every one of us. In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
