TOPIC: Does Jesus Care?

_The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He saves those whose spirits have been crushed. Psalms 34:18_

When was the last time you felt sad? Maybe when your best friend said something unkind to you or when you missed the game’s winning goal or when you had low grades in school or when you fell sick? Sadness is part of life but it’s still a hard emotion to go through. Sadness and the feeling of loneliness often go hand in hand. It’s easy to think no one else understands the pain or unhappiness that we’re feeling and that we have to go through a sad time all by ourselves. It’s easier to think that God leaves us alone to figure out our sadness. Well, surprise! God is closer to us when we are sad? In Psalms 34:18, God reminds us that he is close to us when we’re sad. He doesn’t abandon us to figure out what to do alone. He’s closer to us than before.
Sadness isn’t a fun emotion to experience but we’ve been promised that even when we are sad, God is near us and always ready to listen. If you know someone going through a hard time or if you meet someone who’s sad today, remind them just as you’ve been reminded that Jesus is ready to help. Pray with that person & play good fun activities with them if you can too.
