Imo NOGALSS Partners People Living With Disability To Eradicate Illiteracy

Following the affirmative agenda of eradicating illiteracy by the year 2030, the Imo State Chapter of Non-governmental Association For Literacy Support Services, NOGALSS) is living no stone unturned.



Recently, the group visited persons living with disability under the umbrella of Joint National Association Of Persons Living With Disability (JONAPWD), Imo State Chapter, at their Owerri office.



Addressing the State Chairman of the association, Chief Stanley Nwachukwu and his local government Coordinators, the Coordinator of Corporative unit of Imo Chapter of NOGALSS, Ihuoma Onwuchekwa, stressed the need to join hands with their leadership to help their uneducated members get informal education.



She stated:



“NOGALSS is all about like minds and various organisation who are working together under one umbrella in collaboration with the Federal Government and other international organizations towards ensuring that Illiteracy is eradicated at all levels of the society by the year 2030.



“To achieve this onerous agenda, it is all about partnership. That is the reason we have come to seek an understanding with you on how we can work together.



“I know you have well educated persons amongst you who have impacted to the society intellectually and otherwise.



Nigeria has won various medals in the world of sports. Your contributions are well noted and cannot be over emphasised.



“We are not unaware of your influence in government policies and your inputs at various sectors of the economy. It is because of these invaluable factors that we seek your partnership to also help some of your members to become literate.



“For some of you who wish to identify with us as members and facilitators, we welcome you. We assure you that your effort will not be in vain as we already have welfare package for facilitators.”



The leadership of JONAPWD expressed happiness over the gesture, promising to work with NOGALSS to achieve their agenda.



Meanwhile, the Leader of the persons living with disability, Chief Stanley Nwachukwu, elected to work with the NGO.
